Pilgrims and Priests

The letter of 1 Peter is concerned with shaping Christian identity in the world. Peter writes to a group of suffering Christians living as exiles in the shadow of the Roman Empire. He encourages them to live as a hopeful and loving outpost of the Kingdom of God in the cities where God has placed them. This letter has an enduring relevance for Christians scattered among the various nations of our world as we seek to witness to our cultures without being defined by them.
