Discipleship

People In Process

We believe that all of us are people in process. Jesus is constantly about the work of forming his people into his image. The work of formation is often slow and arduous and can feel like two steps forward, one step back. We acknowledge humbly and joyfully that none of us have arrived but all of us are in the process of formation. We want to be a people who admit our sin, accept help, and partner with the Spirit in the work of spiritual formation.

As disciples of Jesus, we are learning increasingly to dwell with him, to discern his invitation to participate in his life, and to do the work of Jesus in our world. To encourage one another in this life of Christ-focused dwelling, discerning and doing we offer discipleship groups, seminars, Bible Studies and retreats throughout the year.

Discipleship Groups

These are groups focused on spiritual formation in a small community. Groups consist of 4-5 single-gendered individuals who commit to gathering together long term; growing in intimacy with God as believers who are united to Christ and united to each other in Christ.

Seminars

Several times a year we have seminars focused on topics of Biblical, practical, or cultural importance. These seminars are usually offered before our Sunday morning worship services. Past seminars have included “A Shared Humanity: Disability, Etc.,” “Women in Church History,” “The Story of Scripture,” “A Theology of Friendship,” and many more!

Bible Studies

We have men’s and women’s Bible Studies each semester. These groups meet weekly to study God’s word and grow as disciples. Our current Bible Studies (fall 2024) are covering the Old Testament book of Esther.

Discover Seminar

Our Discover Seminar explores what the Gospel is and how that good news from God shapes our mission, vision and ministries as a church. This is also part of the membership process if you are interested in becoming a member at CCC but many people also participate in this class without pursuing membership right away.
